Thread Topic: what would you consider "the golden age" of GTQ?
-
like, what were the best years of gtq, in your opinion? why? i know I'm not an OG like all of you are but I'm kinda curious
-
Ngl, I don't think it ever really had one?
It was nice when the stage was more active
But during that time, so was the lounge
And so was the fighting and bullying
I think GTQ has always been a bit of a hellsite -
GTQ Guy's account was created April 17, 2009. I'm assuming that before that, it wasn't possible to create an account yet, or the website didn't exist, etc
With that being said, probably April 16, 2009 -
trem i have something i need to tell you on Q
Its very important -
I would say there were a few primary eras that coinside with the culture outside of gtq. From 09 to 12 you have an era online that is just starting to flourish. People on Instagram had heavy vignette filters on their posts, third wave emo and scene culture was prominent online and there weren't really a lot of rules. We had random humor and we got lolgag. There were really very few societal expectations for people online at this point so it was honestly very fun.
Then from around 13 to 16 you had this mid 2010s era where internet culture was beginning to fuse with the mainstream and interconnectivity was heightended. Meme culture was in it's prime, Shrek is love and pepe was huge. A lot of people here on gtq still has that early internet mindset and while a lot of it was fun it had a dark underside. people still thought of it as being more acceptable to make up stories for attention and a lot more people believed it back then. It was sort of the popular thing to show yourself off as having the most problems and the hardest life. It was easier to lie online back then and while I'd say we've become more reclusive on gtq as time goes on, we're becoming wiser with our information and more responsible with how we approach mental illness and dangerous situations. That's what I'd consider this third era to be. From 17-22 I'd consider gtq to be a more responsible forum that still has many of it's original charms.
I'm really impressed with how things are handled now. I'd say that trolls are taken care of more effectively and harmful behavior is also cared for a lot better.
I think all the eras on gtq were equally important and your perception on what time was best most likely coinsides with your emotional attachment towards it. -
@fifidee - that makes sense, lol
@bread - im kinda confused, that's probably before GTQ was even usable??? but yeah I'll take that :]
@eri - do you have gtq friends?? i can't go on Q rn cuz its blocked, and that site I just told you about isn't
here's the link. there's a dm message feature so you can use that.

It wasn't really an "age," but I remember a span sometime in about end of 2020 to maybe late spring 2021. It might have been an on and off thing, I don't remember. But I don't remember having to deal with any trolls, both the stage and the lounge were plenty active, there was no drama, everyone got along spectacularly.
