Color theory time
Here's the actual hue value so you can see it's pretty much in-between true orange and true red
Technically, since orange is red+yellow, anything that's not true red is orange. So technically it is orange, However if you add color theory you can trick your brain into perceiving it as being more orange or more red.
If you add white as a tint, or purple as an complimentary color, it'll appear more orange as demonstrated in the photos above.
However if you add Black or green, it'll appear more red and you'll naturally see the color as being red.
I like using theory like this in my art because it helps photos feel more realistic and come out less flat. Rarely do I use the actual color of something. -
Debates like this are fun though because it shows what colors your eyes are more sensitive to! It's proven that difference people perceive colors a little differently and that's why orange comes off nauseating to some people while it comes off as warm and friendly to others. It's all about how sensitive you are to different pigments. This is also why old ladies tend to put on makeup that's too bright or paint their houses weird colors. Their eyes can't perceive color the way we do so they don't see that their paint has a weird green undertone or their blue eyeshadow looks silly.

Honestly I just wanted to know what your eyes perceived it as, not a technical answer! I definitely can see the orange, but my initial thought was red!
