Backstory idea for Learning from the Past
Silph used to be the patron diety for a powerful kingdom, and would protect the kingdom in return for their worship.(he used a different name at this time)
He was relatively close to the royal family, often making appearances at their events, but once the newest child was born he became extremely attatched to the royal. He watched the child grow up, serving as their teacher an friend, untill war broke out with the neighboring kingdoms.
Silph reluctantly left his friend to go fight the other kingdoms, a mistake that would cost his friends life, as the attacking armys had mearly been a distraction to lure away the royal family's god protector, so that a smaller force could kill the family.
Silph returned from the battle beaten and worn, only to find a field of rubble where the family's home had once been. In his grief, he abandoned what was left of his worshipers, and abandoned his original name to distance himself from the one that had failed his one true friend. -

Silph actually has a temple to his old self hidden away somewhere in the nearby mountains, as he still draws power from it and if injured he can retreat there to heal faster
