Not mine, but when my fiance moved in with his dad and his step mom as a teen he started showing interest in guitar, and asked for one for Christmas. Then, all of the sudden right before Christmas his step sister acted like she was obsessed with guitar.
For Christmas, his stepsister opened up the exact guitar he had wanted and he got socks for Christmas. Not even like as a side present. Like that was all he got. She never played the guitar and threw it away a few months later. -
Underwear, my grandma was like "open it in private" so I thought it was something really cool and then it was just underwear

Can it be a birthday present?

Any present works!

Idk, but my aunt and uncle still think that I like my little pony and all that stuff. I just don’t open their gifts sometimes, it’s always something for 4 year olds that I’ve grown out of 😭

Cool. I got a gift card to JC Pennies from my mom when I was really little. She had recently put me on a diet that left me feeling hungry and deeply self-hating all the time and gave me the card so I could buy skinny people clothes after I lost as much weight as she wanted me to.

Oh and also this other time earlier this year. On my soccer team, you can earn points by doing well in soccer that day and winning challenges.
Anyways, whoever got the most points got a gift card. First place would get a fifty dollar gift card, second and third would get $25 cards, and the rest of the team would get $10 gift cards. I ended up in second place, and got a gift card to Red Robin. First and last places all got amazon cards and I was like- “I don’t even eat at that place” -
I experienced a lot of misogyny with presents and my interests were blatantly ignored.
I would ask for pocket knifes and videogames as a teen and every year my brothers would get things like that and id just get nail polish and knick knacks. I asked for new clothing and music albums a lot and that was always too much. My parents claim they just don't know what to get me even though I have a ridiculous amount of hobbies and am really easily pleased. I just don't care about nail polish and body lotion. At the very least if you're going to buy someone makeup get them something they'll actually use like nice eyeliner or a makeup palette -
But it’s the thought that counts
I guess -
Your guy's stories are so terrible 😭 I can't imagine any of that oh my god.

A night light. When I tried to sleep with that night light, it kept making annoying lullabies. It also was too bright for my eyes, so I couldn't sleep with it. We gave it away a week after I got it.

But honestly as long as the person cares about me, I really don’t care about the present. My aunt and uncle probably pick up the first thing that they see in a store lol

A picture of a duck and a butterfingers bar.
I hate butterfingers. -
When I was around 9-10, I got one of those "adopt-a-kid" charity presents where some rich family picks a poor kid and puts together a box for them.
Thing is, my mom was the one who filled out my "interests" and she didn't really pay attention to me. So she put down that I liked Hannah Montana even though. Wasn't really interested
So I opened up my box and it was all Hannah Montana. Hannah Montana shirts, toys, and makeup. And then at the bottom was underwear and socks and hygein supplies (soap, toothbrush, etc.). Very disappointing for a kid -
A 12 piece baby Noah’s ark puzzle when I was 13.
I got mad at my brother giving me it, also we already had that and he said he ‘did not want to waste money’
That makes me mad. 😡
