Thread Topic: Your first impression of GTQ?
-
When I first found this site I was like, "I'm going to take every single quiz on gtq!
So I would go to old profiles and stuff.
I was always confused at their recent posts, because I was like, what are they posting on. (The word forum also wasn't in my vocabulary lol)
But I never pressed any of it because I was a sneaky 12-13 year old doing this behind my parents back for literally months.
Then I was like, how do I make an account?
So I just started pressing random things looking for the make an account button.
I found out, but I didn't make an account, because I was scared my parents would find out.
Then 5 months after I turned 13, I finally got the courage and made one. The first thing I did was go to the forums because that was the one thing that had confused me about this site.
There were only like under 10 users active for a couple months. It may have been a dead place but this was my secret place from my parents.
My parents still don't know lol -
I was literally TORN APART because my parents didn’t know about gtq
-
Straight up dude. I completely relate with both of you. Strict parents are something else. Like I get it, stranger danger and all, but I did WAY worse things in plain sight than I ever did here. I'd honestly almost even say this is an extremely safe place on the internet.
-
Honestly at this point I just don’t care that my parents don’t know lol. I mean I’m friends with people that they’ve never met so I have a lot of stuff to hide haha
-
Yeah, the rule in my house is no social media until you're sixteen and technically this would fall under that realm (for some reason though I feel like it doesn't count as it though lol)
And even when I turn sixteen I probably won't tell them about it -
Just be careful both of you. All through highschool my dad would randomly go through everything on my phone because "god told him to" and then block any contacts he didn't like of ban sites. This happened until I was nineteen too lol.
-
I mean it’s be awkward if anyone in my family got into here
-
Obviously your parents are your parents but if youre in a religious or strict household it can cause some serious grief
-
XD Wow
I go into incognito for gtq and quotev and stuff so I don't have to bother with that. Plus my parents don't go through my phone enough or thoroughly to wonder, why are you spending two hours on Google a day and yet never visit any sites? -
I thought it was pretty cool and daunting because I'd hardly had any online interaction, but I eventually started to feel lonely and upset because I felt like I was being ignored. If Rayne and Tat hadn't treated me kindly when I interrupted their thread, soft baby hearted me would probably have not tried to reach out after a while, possibly even leaving GTQ.

Honestly when I first joined I didn't really have much of an opinion of the forums, I think? I thought it was cool that there was a section on the quiz site for people to talk, but I was far more socially awkward back then than I am even to this day, so I didn't talk much at first, I think. I did meet some of my friends here quite early on though, I think minime (who would go on to make the account therealminime because of some hacking or doubles thing, can't remember now) posted not long before I did in that thread you used to get directed to when clicking on the 'check out the forums' message on a new profile, so was always filled with newbies and just would never die even though the creator didn't want to see it anymore lol. Little did I know, posting in that thread, I was beginning some of my formative years on the internet and as a person. Wouldn't be the person I am now without this place.

IIRC when I first started using the site, there weren't any forums. It was quizzes only. A pretty simple site, I made a couple dumb quizzes back then. Liked to take quizzes and comment on others' quizzes.
Then the forum was made, sometime in 2009 but I just ignored it and then decided to finally make a forum account in 2010.
My first impression of the forum was (before I joined) it was kind of boring and just a place where people spammed about politics and Twilight. Then I joined, and my impression then was that it was a fun place for me to talk to others...and spam of course, just not about Twilight.
I was incredibly annoying for the early years of the forum and posted all kinds of dumb things because I thought it was hilarious (it WAS NOT)
Then I kind of drifted away because people were leaving and I had other things I was into
And now I'm back for some reason, feeling like I'm a completely different person than I was when I left. -
Here's what GTQ looked like when I first started using it- I was 9 years old at the time :) -
