I'd be super interested in hearing about your family history. It's quite fascinating given the odds of you having red hair. There are quite a fair amount of German redheads so it's possible that it came straight from there but again like I said the odds are just so low it's crazy to imagine. My parents both have the genes and only one out of the four of us has red hair. I have strawberry hair and the others are dirty blondes. My mom has a french last name so everyone assumed they were french for decades and finally she got a test done and it turns out she's less than 1 percent french despite everyone saying they came from france. Genealogy is absolutely fascinating and it's interesting to see how families pass information down throughout generations and how it compares to the actual data.

Strawberry blonde actually does count as red hair, at least medically. Wasn't sure if you were saying that you were the redhead or not.
And yeah, what you're told versus what actually is is very different. I mean, just looking at my mom's side of the family is proof. My great grandma on my grandpa's side is supposedly an Englishwoman through and through (She does have an English maidenname). And since the Belgian comes from my grandma's side, that means that my great grandma had to have married someone who was completely German (after she married she did have a German last name).
Since I'm supposedly 1/16 Belgian, that would mean that my grandma is a quarter Belgian (and you can definitely see the Belgian in her. She has the nose). But that means that one of her parents was half German and half Belgian, and the other would have had to have been German in total.
And frankly, the odds of being pure German or half and half, I wouldn't say is this large.
As for family history, my mom's side were actually Puritans that came over on the Mayflower. That's about all I know. My mom is curious if we're related the Debussy (the musician), because of the similar last name to her maiden name, and, I quote, "If you get rid of the hair, he looks exactly like your Papa!"
Now, for my dad's side, we were actually silver miners in Germany. I think there was some sort of silver shortage, and so they sailed down to Australia and landed in Adelaide. Then they stayed there actually for a long time. My grandpa moved to America to study to become a pastor. Then he met my grandma and they moved back to Australia. It wasn't until my dad was 3 that they moved back to America. -

Those mountains are in Middle Germany
It looks like the last names on my dad's side came from middle-high Germany, and the last names on my mom's side came from middle-low Germany.
I also did some research, and it looks like there was a Celtic tribe in Glauberg, which is in Middle Germany.
So I think I figured out where the Celtic part comes into play for me. Middle Germany and lower.
But another thing is that we don't know how much people moved around.
I think at this point I just need an ancestry lol.

What I couldn’t live without is everybody in the Gotoquiz community! They bring a lot of joy and happiness. It’s hard to describe the excitement I get whenever I log onto here to talk to everyone. Y’all are a family to me. 🥺🤧🥺💖
