If you're asking in the person you're rping with's official thread, that's fine. But in random threads they make or if they're having a conversation with someone in someone else's thread, don't ask. Just find their thread and post there. They can see if someone posts in their thread. -
Don't wanna explain too much but like,
Think of it as IRL. You were having a good time until, Uh-oh! Someone forgot to do your role-play. You go to a random thread with something serious going on or some thread with a conversation to post "Hey, (name) can you please answer the role-plays?" People will get disturbed and ask you to at least leave the thread if it was a conversation, but if it was in a serious thread then it could be different. Like if someone was sad or they were in a mental breakdown, and you just go and shout "Hey, please do the role-play", then the person will probably think of you as selfish or annoying. I mean, helping that person to feel good is better than just shouting blah blah blah in front of them.
I tried to make this as clear as possible. -
Adding on to what you guys said, even if you ask in a offical thread, sometimes people are venting there as well. Check the last posts they have made there before asking for roleplays.
People have done both of these things once too many times, and it's quite rude. In the perspective of someone who has been asked to answer roleplays while having a anxiety attack, it's not appropriate at all and sometimes mentally/physically hurts people further.
The bottom line is please don't ask for roleplays in serious situations or while people are venting. Ask another time. -
Also, don’t ask if you’ve already asked within the last few hours. Don’t come off as pushy, even if you don’t intend to.
