calluses are hard patches of skin developped when repeated friction, pressure, or irritation is upon it.
like when women develop calluses on their fingers when they poke themselves too much with needles by accident, so when they have a callus, the needles don't hurt when their fingers get poked anymore
i have a callus on the side of my middle finger from excessive drawing and applying pressure to it with my pencil LOL -
