I’ll literally stare at the ceiling, completely unaware that I’m awake.

meditation. watching a show until you fall asleep. creating a bedtime routine so that your body knows you're getting ready to go to bed. sticking to a strict sleep schedule. ONLY get in your bed when you are laying down to sleep, so that your brain associates your bed with sleeping. melatonin gummies, sleep podcasts, ect.

I find taking a melatonin and letting a movie I've seen quite a few times going on my TV on low is the only way I can get some rest

Valerian root helps my mom and sister fall asleep, but it doesn't help me or my dad, so that's 50/50

Read a book, that always makes me tired.

i’m having the same issue. i have insomnia, and now it’s getting worse, lol.
melatonin has the opposite effect on me, but it may help you, just don’t rely on it too much.
i’ll let you know if i find anything helpful. -
This is one of the only things that can get me to sleep recently. Specifically, the wind-down routine in the beginning really helps, and following it up with the detailed descriptions of the shop ties it all together and I end up drifting away before I know it. -
Also some decaffeinated tea can also help
