And a thorn? Went through your SHOE? The odds of THAT happening are so low. Wow, how bad did that hurt?!

It was at least two inches long, I don't know what plant it's from.
It would've hurt more than it did if I wasn't walking on the side of my foot.
One of the mentors used his plier fingers to get it out. -
There's only one plant in the world that has two inch long thorns, so that's actually pretty rare! It must have been silverthorn.

I don't think those are native to Nebraska.

Must have misjudged the size.

It could have been honey locust or black locust. Most likely Honey Locust, because those are found everywhere in North America, and their thorns can get up to an inch and half long!

I can't remember if they have one of those trees here

It's bad if they do, because they can attract locusts (grasshopper-like insect, very destructive) and tse tse flies in some rregions
