So, I was in the basement/warehouse grabbing some stuff to put out on the floor (as I do), and I was on the ground because the bottom shelf is basically on my floor and I needed a couple things from there. And then the maintenance guy (he’s like 60) shows up and says “finally got you on your knees, I see,” and I just stared at him because ?? Wtf does that mean?? And then he proceeded to stand at the end of the aisle, blocking my way to the door to get out, and stares at me for five seconds before telling me that he was here to check all the lightbulbs, but he still didn’t move, so I just got up and had to walk around the other side of the aisle in order to leave.
Now, a few weeks ago, when I first met him, he had to come to my room because I was having an issue with all the cracks in the ceiling and bugs coming in (so he had to seal it up). And when I opened the door, he looks me up and down and then kept staring at my chest as he talked to me. It was the first time I felt like I needed to be like “hey, bruh, eyes up here.” But I didn’t think anything of it other than okay, he’s just a creepy old man but I can’t do anything about his staring, and I’ll just ignore him every time he’s here. And so I’ve just been ignoring him every time he’s at our store (and he’s not here often because the company I work for has about 5 stores and he’s the only maintenance guy this year) -
And because he’s our only maintenance guy, I highly doubt that they’re going to do something about it, but I would at least like them to take away his master key to all our rooms and to only have him come to this store on my days off
-
I would definitely report that.
-
I would say that is absolutely harassment.

Yeah, I was planning on telling my manager today (she was off yesterday when I happened), but again, I don’t think they’re really going to do anything. Especially since I don’t have any proof that he said that (no one else was around and we don’t have any cameras) and this is my second month working for them, and he’s been with them for years
-
And I told one of my coworkers last night (she’s been here for about 5 years, so she knows him better) about what happened and she was like “what? He’s so sweet, I call him my work grandpa, and I could never see him doing something like that. I never got a creepy vibe off him,” so there are people here that like him and don’t think that he’s creepy, so I might piss some people off with reporting him, but I’m still gonna do it anyways
-
Definitely feel nervous about reporting him though. I think because my instinct is to just ignore what happen, which is why I immediately texted another one of my work friends what happened (she works at a different location) because I knew that my brain was going to downplay what had actually happened and start to doubt myself.
I do feel like though it’s just going to boil down to a “she-said he-said” sort of thing and then it’ll be the end of the season and nothing will happen -
Better to try and report it, even if nothing happens.
-
Yeah, I agree with LightEmUp. Even if nothing happens, it’s best to report it. Don’t take your chances by not reporting.
-
Plus if he starts being creepy to more people he'll already have one report on him
-
^ YEAH!
-
Told my manager and then she told me to write an email to HR, so just got done with that. Stay tuned to find out what happens next, y’all

They said they should have a solution by the end of the day, so that’s good. And the assistant general store manager and general store manager of the whole park/all the stores both came and talked to me (separately) and said that they’re taking it very seriously and are immediately investigating and figuring out what to do and apologized and then thanked me for bringing this to their attention
-
hey, that's a good response
I hope it works out in your favor -
Thank you
And yeah, I’m actually kind of surprised because again, he’s the only maintenance guy we have and he’s been working with them for a few years, so I honestly was just expecting them to not do anything. Or at least not do anything for a few weeks
