To Q2, magic...difficult question. Summoning is the first thing to my mind though, so that for now- i guess. -
I guess the power to not have to eat or drink would be nice too. Or to stop having allergies? But I guess that's not too whimsical..

Flying sounds like it could be fun. I know a woman who rode dragons, that's the closest to flying I've ever heard of, though.
