A frustrated yell rang out of the secluded lab, a dark haired man with white eyes throwing a note book at a wall
"whats going wrong! They should be working!" He said in anger, storming over to a computer and tapping a few keys to bring up the lines of code for his project, running a hand through his hair tiredly
"why are the nanites so unstable?" He asked himself as he eyed the code, glancing over to the tall glass container, which appeared to be half filled with metallic black sand.
"Maybe...." He mumbled, changing a few things before entering the code, turning his head to watch the sand come to life, shifting calmly in the container.
"Maybe. Only one way to find out" he said, imputting a comand and causing the sand to drain into a test room. The scientist walked into the room, slowly removing the bloodied bandage wrapped around his hand. He gasped as the nanite swarm rushed for him, coiling around his hand and causing the man to grin as he felt his skin knitting back together
"Yes! Its working!" He said gleefully, excitement showing his eyes.
His face suddenly fell as he felt a sharp tearing pain flash through his arm, alarm quickly filling his gaze as he realised the swarm was eating him. He cried out in alarm as the swarm suddenly began to spread over his body, lunging for the emergency shutdown button.
He slammed his hand on it just as the swarm consumed his body, a deep base thrum rattling the room before a emp blast raced through the room, plunging it into darkness as the nanites fell to the ground, shut down.

The sound of shifting sand filled the darkness, flickering light of code flashing occasinally as the natites coalesced into a humanoid shape, slowly sitting up to look around. They eventually stood up, and left the room to explore the crumbling lab. -
