I don't feel it is appropriate, nor do I have the fondest memories of these sorts of events. Plus, I can't dance for the life of me

I view it as a sort of friendly gathering event, but to each their own.

I feel the prom as a gathering between young lovers, who have feelings for each other beyond friendship. And my last GTQ relationship ended rather abruptly, and I care not to try to repeat the experience. So I'd rather keep it as professional as you can on a forum site. Friends and cohorts.
