even before baking??? but ther chcolate is always black tho. like cocoa powder is bacl isnt it? that has to be black not brown.

No, it's brown. i have some cocoa powder in my cupboard, and can verify. And every single time I've made brownies, be them homemade or from a box, or if they're from the bakery section of a grocery store, they're always brown.
