the way these people write these books is so confusing
i'm not a 80 year old 50 BCE philosopher, i'm an 18 year old college student -
the wording/phrasing in particularly confusing. i like to think i'm intelligent enough to work my way over a difficult sentence, but god damn

it's like they mention one thing, and i'm following along like "cool, cool, i understand this" and then they jump to a completely different topic in the same paragraph, but don't mention how the topics are connected -
it's a bunch of bogus bologna and i'm really not trying to fail this 4 credit class and set myself behind because some pretentious old white dude wanted to seem like he knew about chinese religion

the workload so far is manageable -
professor cancels class yesterday, okay cool
then he emails us this morning saying "actually, here's a presentation i recorded, look at it and take notes on it" ok.. will do
1 hr 40 min long presentation (this class is 1 hr 5 minutes).... little weird man but whatever, let's take these notes
second email... "everything is important... write everything down. it'll all be on the test" - professor. (...aight?)
end up writing 7 full pages of notes, like 8x11 in pages, without skipping lines
