Okay so, when a polar bear wants to mate they have to travel many, many miles. Well once they actually get pregnant, they have about three weeks or so to decide if they can have this baby and have the baby AND the momma survive. If not, the momma absorbs the baby.

Think about it this way:
Momma bear decides to keep baby.
Momma can barely feed herself throughout the pregnancy.
Gives birth to baby.
Momma dies from starvation trying to keep baby fed.
Baby either dies of starvation or from getting eaten by a male polar bear. -
That's harsh.

Or Baby could die from the cold. Or drowning. Or getting eaten by a killer whale. Those f---ers eat anything.
Antarctica is a harsh place. Just be happy humans can't do this. -
