Me and my mum were walking down the road and we saw a cat in the road... Next to a pool of blood. It was still breathing and twitching, so we diverted all the cars and half of the street came and helped. I was crying at this point, in the arms of one of my mum's friends. When she tried to take me away from the cat, I pulled away and said, "I need to stay with her."
My mum was checking the cat over (she is a trained vet) and found that she had missing teeth, a broken jaw and a very wounded neck and chin. Someone from down the road came out with a cardboard box, some plastic bags and a blanket. My mum lined the box with the bags, lay the cat in gently, and put the blanket over her.
Her eyes glazed over. I had prayed that it wouldn't get this far, but I whispered the words that would take her to StarClan if that's what it came to. I asked StarClan to take her as Grayfeather. Just then, the vets arrived in a small van and took the cat - still in the box - in with them.
The owner of the cat was distraught. Me and my mum are going to ask her how the cat is doing.
I hope that StarClan will light her path, and lead her whichever way they see fit. -
