So, I'm applying to a summer writing program. In NEW YORK. Guys, you don't understand how big this is. I've literally never traveled above Tennessee. Never been on a plane. The only sort of program I've ever been a part of was softball in sixth grade. This is HUGE for me. I'm from f---ing Florida, a small hick town, I have eight siblings, my mom is a cripple and my dad is a correctional officer. We don't get a lot of opportunities like this.
My application has to include 5-10 pages of writing. Fiction, Fantasy, Sci-Fi or Personal Essay. I need it to be good. I need it to be the best thing I've ever f---ing wrote.
So, I need editiors/proof readers. I don't want someone who's going to say "oh it looks good" and not actually critique the hell out of my ass. Literally drag me through the mud. I want to bounce ideas off of people and be shot down until there's something golden. Please, please, please. I'm going to ask my English teacher and my History teacher to proof read it as well, but I'd like insight from you guys. -
New York isn't all that nice, sadly. It's been hyped up, unless you are rich then it's lit.
But I wish you luck on your application. :o If you ever want I don't mind proof reading and such. -
It's at a college in New York, and I'll earn credits there. It's super exciting, honestly.

Hoever, I could possibly see myself helping you edit whatever you choose to write. That is, if you allow me to. I'll do my best to point out grammatical flaws and stuff like such. -

Housing, especially in New York, is very pricey and an expensive place to live. I think rent can be 2000-3000 dollars depending on the area and type of housing you choose (if you don't want to stay on campus). I'm assuming that this "summer program" is at a New York university, is there any payment that needs to be done? Also don't forget travel arrangements and where exactly you will be staying. This choice can be a bit more costly and that other states can be a selection where you can find the best writing programs during the summer.
