:') so we are going to force people on how to talk?
-
Is that the Canadian thing that makes it illegal to use the wrong pronouns?
-
i think it's good because it really helps fight transphobia. i'm glad people in canada are having their identities protected like this, but i wish there was a bill like that over here :(
-
Pretty much. So if you don't use "they/them" because you don't want to look like a retard, you'll be jailed or possibly fined.
So you rather have ordinary people not even doing harm to transgenders or people of that withhold stupid little important identities, not even breaking actual serious laws and committing felonies to get into legal trouble because they refused to say someone's pronouns?
Also on an unrelated note, If you really seek self-harm because someone called you the wrong pronouns, there is something else wrong with you. -
why would you refuse to use someone's pronouns? there's literally no other reason to disrespect someone's identity other than to be an a--hole. why is it such a big deal to change one word in your sentence that could make a person feel comfortable and happy?
i think the bill is a big step in favor of the lgbt+ community. sorta makes me wanna move to canada. -
Of course you would like a little hugbox that comforts your wounds, suppressing the alleged maniacal forces that triumphs your ability to express your identity that seemed to fit you, because Tumblr said so, when really they are civil human beings that are promised on their very humane rights to have liberation of speech.
This law has many holes, and would sink in a matter of seconds.
The United States recognizes freedom of speech, so that bill will never, and I hopefully promise ever will be introduced in this country. -
thats a really ignorant way to see it, and i wish you'd be more open-minded about the way you think of transgender people. i wish you'd put yourself in their shoes. but okay, whatever. i know i can't change the way you think. you haven't changed a bit in the few years I've known you. let's just agree to disagree then.
this is why i'm learning french, because this place is an actual literal s---hole filled with people like you, and when i'm older i really wanna move to canada. seems like a really lovely place, not full of racists and homophobes and transphobes. and if trump becomes our president, it'll only become moreso that way. -
Why do I need to change my very own speech to comfort another stranger's life? They pretty much latch on to these pronouns, letting it become their whole entire lives. No wonder people that advocate that bill or political correctness are such insipid individuals, because they focus on tiny little words that aren't such a big deal. Deriving happiness from someone else is not comforting, it shows how much you rely on high expectations from people to give you something they aren't obligated to hand over.
-
that's also a really ignorant way to view it. pronouns can become someone's everything because for a long time, sometimes even their whole life, their gender identity has been denied, ignored, or mocked. they go through dysphoria, being misgendered, trying desperately to pass as the gender they identify with. they hate their body, and wish they could just be that gender, and having someone use the wrong pronouns for them on purpose can be devastating. they're trying so hard to feel happy and comfortable with themselves, and when someone calls them the wrong gender on purpose, it really hurts. i don't expect you to understand or change your mind because you have the mental capacity of a goldfish and never think before you speak, but i just wanted to put that out there.
-
I recognize transgender people, and I'm not however giving them special treatment because they are pretty much equal to everyone else and everyone is on a fair level in my reality you will never be apart of. They can be awesome people, and I use their pronouns (pst, normal ones). I am more ranting towards people with other gender identities that have already been decomposed as a bunch of hooey, a raging vial of bulls---.
-
why should someone have to fit your definition of "real?" why should someone have to be defined as "male" or "female" just because you don't understand why they feel that way?
-
okay, so now you're taking a step back. i appreciate the fact that you recognize that you're wrong, to a degree.
but there are no "real" pronouns. all gender is made up. i don't know why you're so insistent on using "real" pronouns where all gender is made up. someone had to come up with binary pronouns somehow. they didn't just come up out of nowhere. -
I don't fully know the experiences of transgenders. I don't give a s---. I don't speak for them, because their experiences vary from one person to another. They can speak for themselves.
Bawling your eyes out because someone, a stranger, called you a tranny or whatever is just plain useless. If you already know you are or want to be the gender you aspire to be, then that should keep you content. It really depends on how mentally dysfunctional and vulnerable they are to focus so much on someone miniscule to their journey. -
Milky Way JuniorPronouns come from the two genders that you can be born with. Yes, it's me again.
-
Milky Way JuniorTo say pronouns are made up is incredibly stupid.
