Hmm. I want to work on my grammar.
So, I get the difference between Your and You're.
I'm still confused when to use an and a.
Also, They're, there, and their.
I've learned this stuff before but I've always been confused with an and a.
My teacher's and Google suck at giving examples.
Can someone help me with this And give me examples? -
Only use a if the following word starts with a consonant. Example: That is a cat.
Use an if the following word starts with a vowel. Example: That is an ice cube. -
They're is the conjoined version of they are. If they are fits in the sentence when you take out they're, then it belongs there.
Their is possessive. That is their book.
And there is a place. They live over there. -
Thank you.
-
Not a problem~

They're: It's a combination of They and are. Saying there is the same as saying "They are." Use this in the context when a group of people is doing something.
Ex: They're going to the park. They're going to buy ice cream.
It's the same as saying "They are going to the park. They are going to buy ice cream."
Think of it like we're, if that helps any.
There is referring to a place. For example:
"We're going over there." "I threw it somewhere over there."
Their is referring to an object that someone owns. "Their final breath." "Their book." "Their sweater." -
Wow, I was late.
-
Theyre: only use it when writing about a person doing something
Ex: They are going shopping, They're gong shopping
There: when talking about a place/location
Ex:There is an Olive Garden nearby
Their: when talking about someone else's property
Ex: This lamp is theirs -
No. That actually helped a lot.
So, let me quiz myself.
Here are my examples and tell me if I did them correctly.
An-That is an Apple.
A-That is a lot of apples.
They're-They're going swimming.
There-We will go there.
Their-It is their book. -
Wow so was i
-
You've got it! ^^
-
Yup, it all looks perfect!

Okay. Good. Thank you everyone. I wanted to make sure I understood the words correctly and not say them wrong.
