I have no real reason for shipping Mettaton and Undyne other then the fact they're both stars of the Underground in their own ways, and they're super confident and powerful.
And they both care for Alphys. -
And the fact I can imagine really cute scenarios with them trying to one up each other.

but at the same time I ship Undyne and Alphys but since it's so cannon it's just less appealing to me for some reason.

but in the end the butterfly is just a butterfly
it isn't a flower and thus it cannot cry to the flowers
