Breacan's story:
He was your average kid, living with his mom and step-dad. All was pretty good.
Until one day he was picked up from school by DHS, because his mother and step-dad had been in a terrible accident. His step-dad had died at the scene, and his mother lasted about 2 weeks in the hospital. The son got to see her, and was told that she was very likely to recover, and he'd soon be back at home with her.
But that didn't happen. A few days later she died from complications during surgery. He was taken to live with his father.
Everything went downhill from there. His father hated him, and how he reminded him of her. Everyday was a struggle for him, and after his 15th birthday he'd given up hope.
He made plans to kill himself. Just a quick trip a couple blocks to the bridge. He could jump off, and that would be that. And his father wouldn't have to worry about cleaning up his damned blood.
But the next day, before his father got home, he heard crying on the doorstep. He peeked out the kitchen window, and there was this pink girl sitting there, crying into her hands.
He knew his father would be home any minute, and he didn't want him to hurt her for being on their property, so Breacan took her inside and hid her in his closet, begging her to be quiet, that they'd talk later and she'd be safe.
And so it came to be that the kid found a new reason for living.
He took care of her every day for a week, teaching her new things about Earth. She, in turn, would use her abilities to help him vanish from sight when his father was drunk.
But one night, things didn't go quite right.
She had been left alone in his room, asleep. The father had come home early, and found her there. Luckily she vanished before he could hurt her, but when Breacan came home, hell broke loose.
A fight brewed, very one-sided, with Breacan defending himself and the girl while the man flung insult and objects in his direction.
The father finally lost it. He pulled out a knife from the drawer, and started toward his son.
She took the opportunity, and jumped in to intercept, taking the stab straight into her eye.
The boy backed up in alarm, but then quickly tried to go back and pull her away.
But it was too late. This was who the father wanted in the first place. She would take his punishment.
-Morganite's Story-
I woke up to his smiling face. He laughed, telling me he'd finally figured out how to bring me back. He looked terrible, but his smile was calming. And we were no longer with the loud one. That was good.
I don't know what happened, exactly, but I'm glad it did.
