I dislike alternative, it's becomning too mainstream.

Some of it already is, like metallica, and the reall original metal like death and black would probably never become mainnstream. And besides, most alternative bands these days are coming out with no original talent.

tongue NewbieThe alternative rock playbook is really dated. How many times can you rip off Nirvana and Alice in Chains? As for metal going mainstream, I don't know if there really is much of a mainstream anymore- there's only the tattered ruins of what it once was. How do you think Katy Perry and Lady Gaga got so big so fast? But I think it's safe to say that bands like Slipknot and Disturbed are part of the mainstream at this point, not because they've crossed over but because the mainstream hardly even exists.

Those are like nu metal bands though, that's different.

tongue NewbieNah, I think those bands have eradicated the nu metal tag, even if they are closer to bands like Korn and Tool than they are to Mastodon or Trivium.
