So I want to be a singer actually and I don't know how to get noticed. Putting together a demo is my last resort and I want to do American Idol or something. Any other ideas on how to get noticed by record labels?

Try performing voluntarily at events and areas around you. School events, events at parks or restaurants, etc. You could also search for groups on Facebook that can help you find people and places to get a music career started. However the quickest and easiest way into a successful music career is to have a lot of money and know the right people.

That would help but I live in Alaska. xD I might try Youtube. My dad might know a few people...

Music school + YouTube + social networking. Reddit, Twitter, Instagram, etc.
