I got the main piece for the Christmas concert down today, A Cartoon Christmas. It has Rudolph, Frosty the Snowman, and Christmas Time Is Here in it. During the run through of the Frosty the Snowman part of the piece, I started to smile. Frosty the Snowman is bright and cheery, and we took it at a faster tempo. You can't break your embouchure, or your going to squeak really loud. I tried to hold the smile back, so I ended up putting my chin down which created a beautiful mountain of chins. I somehow pulled through.
A sixth grade flute wanted to take my instrument apart after morning practice, so I showed her where every part goes. She took the middle two pieces apart, and spit just dripped out. That's normal, but she screamed EW, quickly handed it to me, and ran out the storage room. -

I played A Cartoon Christmas without messing up with Justice during morning practice. He plays euphonium. He plays when I have rests and plays the lower voice when I have the melody. I didn't mess up, and I didn't realize the director was watching and listening closely the entire time until the end. She smiled really wide and told us good job and a really good job to me since I'm new. It made my heart happy.
During band class in the afternoon, we were told to pull A Cartoon Christmas out and do a run through. Some of the brass players weren't playing in the right time signature, so she stopped us. We kept cracking stupid jokes because people just kept burping. The teacher kept burping when she was trying to be serious, so she told us, "When I'm upset, I go to work because I know you guys can make me laugh. We may not always sound good, but you make me laugh." Then we played Christmas Air and Dance and nailed it. She was so happy. -

Justice broke his instrument because he was playing around in the storage room and decided to sit on it. The teacher called all flutes and clarinets to her office. She closed the door, crossed her arms, and said, "Who saw it?" I had no idea what she was talking about because I was one of the first people to unpack and set up. I was out quick. I thought we were in trouble, so I backed into the corner and quietly shrieked. Aaliyah saw it happen and explained, so it's Gucci. -

I haven't been to band for two Fridays because I've been on Thanksgiving break. I am so ready to run into the door and play. I might scream. -
