My life is packed with times to wait,
Sometimes I don't appreciate.
Has one occassion been your fate?
Hear, hear, let me elucidate.
I stand in line, I sit in chairs.
I wait in singles, sometimes in pairs.
My waits may circle or even square,
These shapes can queue most anywhere.
I wait for ordered food to go,
Or tickets for a picture show.
To pay some money that I owe,
Or just to get some good info.
I make a call, I hold the phone,
While hearing directions yet unknown.
More buttons to push that always postpone,
Speaking to someone in another time zone.
My parents say I must defer,
Doing adult things I much prefer
To do right now. But I concur,
Not certain to how long they do refer.
So impatient as I seem to be,
Sometimes to waiting I must agree.
Acquiescence isn't a guarantee,
But for now, I'm Young and I'll Be Carefree. -
