Still Standing
You left me alone
You promised me love
But took it away
Scarred me for life
You tried to destroy me
But I am still standing
Like the colliseum
Pieces are missing
But I am still standing
Because i was told to never give up
To never back down
To stay standing
Even if you were the one
Bringing me down
But I am still standing -
Butterflies
I sit here on the cold ground
My legs crossed in front of me
Staring off into emptiness
My tears glistening in the moonlight
My smile has run away
And the fractured rhythm
Has no rhythm at all
My heart has stopped beating
There is no sound
Except my quiet sobs
I made a decision
And I stuck with it
I knew the risk
But did it anyway
I followed my now silent heart
And it led me away from you
I gave up my happiness
For the happiness of others
So here I sit
With the wind blowing my hair
Bathing in the moonlight
And watching the butterflies
That once held my happiness
My smile
And my heart
Fly away
