She swore she hadn't done anything this time, but they were still after her.
Sirens squealed, getting louder, closer. Zay took a sharp left into a skinny allyway, only a hairbreadths wide enough for her to fit.
Zay ran hard, small puddles reflecting a dreary sky until they were shattered into a million ripples, like a shattered mirror as she ran through them.
The squealing was right behind her, but it stayed in one place, unable to follow down the skinny corridor. Doors slammed and scary looking people jumped out. They were big, but just small enough to fit.
Zay knew it was over, but she kept running, running until the fresh, electric smell of lightning burned the inside of her nose and black waves washed over her.
Sheal was chattering away, Zay trying to keep her cool.
She was having a flood of blurry memories come at her all at once at the worst possible time, again. Sheal's voice was making her stay in the present, while her mind was in the past, trying to think through to the future.
Ever since she had been struck with that shock stick, all of these memories that she never even knew she had were coming in episodes.
She knew she was an Ultimate, but not always. They had given her a booster surgery that magnified all of her senses, gave her lightning-quick reflexes and boosted everything else.
But her life before being an Ultimate was lost. All of the other Ultimate's seemed fine with not knowing, but that was because they weren't pestered with they memories-waves.
Zay shook her head, trying to shake away the episodes that were continously haunting her.
Sheal was talking about a bash with some of the Special's, another clique with paranormal powers, but Zay was having a hard enough time trying to keep one foot in front of the other when they pulled up......
