Shhhh, hush.
Don't cry.
Rocking myself back and forth
This chair is meant to spin...
Not rock.
Like my chair I'm doing
Exactly what I shouldn't.
Moping like a whiny brat
Thinking of you and me.
Things that will never be.
Maybe it's not all late night poems
That will be angrily deleted,
That will never be published.
Shhh, don't tell.
Everything's related.
If anyone knew
What I can't tell a soul
All would come crashing down.
Like an avalanche of pain.
I have yet to truly break
But you could be my undoing.
The irony of it all!
A wise soul told me
Drop subtle hints.
No I couldn't do that.
Because once the first falls
The rest will soon follow.
And if you ever knew
My whole world would collapse.
I'm so afraid.
Do you know
What the worst part is?
Never, not ever,
Telling a single person.
I should just talk, let it out...
Oh the irony of my saying that.
I don't even care
What anyone would say
Not nearly as much
As it would hurt to lose you.
No, I could never do that.
So quietly I stare at anything
Sniffle. Sardonic giggle.
Don't mind the cynical hopeless child
Don't pay attention to his cutting words
Don't mind the way he stares
Because in the end he's just
Thinking of you. -
