Chapter One: Meet Carmen
For many years, I have done my best to save the world on behave of my Father, Miguel Cortez, and of my Mother, Alexandria Cortez. Never have I, nor will I forget the last words of my father; [i]"Son, no matter how big a problem may be, you can still overcome it if you so choose to. But, if you run from it, the problem will overcome you."[i/] I took his words to heart and never have I lost a battle. I am Carmen Cortez...Secret Agent. My father and mother were Spanish spies themselves, and as their son. It is up to me to follow in their footsteps, and become legend. And I will get that chance, on this silent, dark, yet faithful night...sailing throughout the foggy night, nothing to be seen but the light showing from the small sailboat, I was on deck looking out to see if I could find anything unusual. No luck. The sailors on that boat knew about me...of course I have tried my best to keep a low profile, although...I was sure to trust them since they are workers of a good friend of mine. But even so, you can never put your trust in anyone...especially if you are a spy. There was an old man on that boat...never knew him, nor heard of him...but he knew a lot about legends. Every night he would tell a story...but little did everyone know that I myself was looking for a legendary gem, the Red Ruby. As I was taking a look around, that old timer began to tell another legend...and coincidentally, he spoke of the Red Ruby. "The soul of the Red Ruby is very delicate...it is said that this gem can change the life of a man. Whether it is good or evil." He said. "The rubys power is like none other. It is said that it gives supernatural powers...if anyone was to reach this gem, he would instantly be as powerful as the ruby. But no one has ever found it, yet legend says that it is hidden in an ancient Indian temple...of course no one has found that either. But there is a man out there seeking for it...and he wont rest until he finds it." He stopped and glared at me...which gave me goose bumps, which is unusual for an Agent like me. But we all get nervous at times right? Even though I was supposed to be seen and not heard, I actually took the guts to speak up. "Tell me of this young man." I say with my back turned. "Young man? he asks As I recall correctly, this man is about 45 years old." [i]45?![i/] I ask myself [i]That preposterous! Im 28![i/] "Oh uh...please excuse me then sir...tell me of this old man." I say getting back to reality. "This man has been looking for the Ruby for decades...he killed one of the best spies in the whole wide world...now what was that fellows name...some Spanish name...Michael? No...Malcolm? Nothats not even a Spanish name." says the man [i]Spanish?[i/] I think to myself "Oh thats what his name was...Miguel Cortez! May he rest in peace..." says the man. [i]Father[i/]... I think to myself again..."Do you have any idea who the man, who killed this spy, is?" I ask turning to face him. "I believe his name is...Jackson...Liam Jackson...why?" asks the man. "No reason..." I say quickly then headed below deck. I sat on my bunk...That was close...he could have noticed who I was...I need to be more careful...of course I havent been myself ever since Fathers death...and mothers death just made things worse for my life...of course that is no excuse. I just wish they were still here, alive. I might as well get some sleep...I am suppose to be meeting with my friend tomorrow. Maybe he might have something for me while Im there. I laid in bed and fell asleep. The next day, it was noisier than ever! I woke up at the sound of music. I walked up on deck to see what the commotion was all about. Turns out that the people on the island that I was sailing to were celebrating about something...why? I will never know. Anyways I saw a man in a distance. "Ramundo!" I say greeting my friend. "Carmen! Its good to see you again! How are you?" he asks "I doing well thank you, how are you?" "I ask I am fine as well. Come, we will get you settled in." says Ramundo leading me to his house. "You know Carmen; I know that you are in search of the Red Ruby, and so is someone else." "Liam Jackson, I know." I say "Uh no. I mean, yes, he too is after the gem but there is another spy, Agent James, hes on our side...but there is very little about him" says Ramundo. "Huh...where can I meet him?" I ask "Soon Carmen, soon" he says -

Chapter Two: Meet Agent James
The Next Day...
I took the day at the ocean. Didn't have anything better to do so why not? I was supposed to attend a party that night. Of course, I wasn't invited. But that's my favorite part about being a Spy. I was also supposed to meet up with Agent James at the party. Maybe he'll have some information about this 'Liam Jackson'... Ramundo said he might have a thing or two, but I would like to know more than just a little bit of information. As far as I know, there are some thugs that will be there at the party, another reason why I'm going. And yes, they might be working for Liam. Lunch came and Ramundo took me to the finest restaurant in town. And when you are an Agent and you go a 5 star rated restaurant, it means business. "Carmen, about the ruby, what if it isnt real?" he asks. I looked up from my menu letting him know that he had my attention because, boy, he had it. "It has to be real; Ramundo, or then my father would have been dead for looking for a myth." I say. "Okay, then what if the ruby is real, but the supernatural powers aren't?" "Then I would have wasted almost a year of my life. But it has to be real, or else Liam wouldnt still be after it!" I say. "I understand." says Ramundo. We ordered our lunch and ate...the only thing I didn't like about that place was the waitress. She looked very mysterious, but she was very beautiful. But I can't let that distract me. The party started at 7:30 pm and it was 2:45 pm, which was good because we needed to contact a few other agents who are helping us with our mission. We then found out that the thugs that will be at the party are indeed working for Liam Jackson. Ramundo and I were going to have to keep a low profile at much as possible.
That night...
The place where the party took was amazing, now this party has nothing to do with the Ruby or anything connected with it. Let's just say that sometimes a spy will have to go to random parties just to get information. Ramundo went somewhere to see if he could make contact with any agents near by, so I was left alone. As I walked around the place I have noticed someone familiar...no...It cannot be...The waitress from the restaurant?! What on earth is she doing here?? She looked over at me and smiled, she then made her way over to me. I grew nervous... Once she came up to me she smiled again and said "Follow me." And with that she turned and walked away. I knew that it was stupid for a man like me to be rude and not follow, so I went. She led me upstairs to a balcony. She then turned to me and said "Hello Agent Cortez." "How...did you know who I was?" I asked "I am Agent James, Isabelle James, British Intelligence." She said. She is Agent James?! "Y-Your are a woman?!" I say hoping not to sound rude. "Whoa...I-I mean...Forgive me, I just thought that you would be uh...male." "Well my name may be pretty deceiving, but do not think that all agents are male." She says. "Oh no, not at all...My mother was a spy." I say nearly kicking myself for being so open. She smiled "I have a message from Tokyo." She says "Ah...must be from Shan Yun." I say "Yes indeed it is." says Isabelle. Shan Yun was another agent, and another good friend. "Don't tell now...Agent Ramundo might want to hear this as well." I say "Of course..." she says. We make our way back to find Ramundo. Once we did I introduced him to Isabelle, he nearly spit out his water. "Youre Agent James?!" he exclaims "Will you keep your voice down?!" I scowl. "Very sorry, but I thought Agent James...was a man." says Ramundo. "So did I." I say. "Agent James has a message from Shan from Tokyo." "Ah, good. He might have some information about the rubys location." He says "Come on...we cant talk here." -

Chapter Three: The legend we seek The legend we find
We went back upstairs to a small room. Once we closed the door, Ramundo and I turned to Agent James. "What is the message agent?" he asks her. "The Indian temple is real indeed, it is also hidden somewhere in one of the jungles there in India." "Its in a jungle?" I ask. She nods "Yes, and we do believe we have found its location. There are hidden clues along the way, we have followed the instructions, and they led us to an area of land filled with nothing but trees and swamp. We believe it is hidden there." "An Indian temple hidden in a swampy place?" wonders Ramundo. "Its possible..." I say "Does anyone else know about this?" "No one other than us and Shan Yun." She says. "Good, good. Met anyone suspicious yet?" Ramundo asks her. "Yes I have. Twice in fact, the first was a man who seemed to follow me where ever I went but kept his distance." "Can you describe him?" I asked "Tall, pale skin, long blonde hair, color of the eyes I couldnt make out." "And the second person?" asks Ramundo "Again male, he was closer to me than the first. He was tall but I couldnt make out his skin nor his hair because he covered it with some sort of cloth. But his eyes were green." "I wonder..." says Ramundo "Wonder what?" I asked. "Maybe the first man is the second..." "I have thought of that." Said Isabelle. "The second man didnt follow me as much as the first...he just appeared in a few places that I would be in." "Odd." Says Ramundo. "Indeed" I say. "We should probably get out of here..." he says "Those thugs on the first floor are working for Liam...we dont want to be seen by them now do we?" we nod in agreement and head out. But just as we opened the door...three men stood there, towering over us... "Well, well, well, look whos here...Agent Cortez, his buddy Ramundo and his girlfriend." Said the red haired one. Another one with blonde hair pulled out his gun and pointed at us. "Tell us where the ruby is and no one gets hurt." He says. In an instant I reacted, by taking a chair, throwing it at them making them fall back away from the room. Ramundo closed and locked the doors. "Are we safe here?" asks Isabelle "I think so.." I say. Until one of them men from the other side of the door shot a bullet through a door. "Ok maybe not!" "Where do we go?" asks Ramundo. Isabelle looked around and saw a balcony "Here!" she ran to the balcony and began to climb down a tree near it. Ramundo followed, "Uhh...Are you sure this is a good idea?!" i looked around to see if there was a better way to get down. "You have two choices Carmen! either get killed and look good, or get a few splinters and be alive." shouts Ramundo. Just before i was about to answer, the men barged in, shooting at me, gosh they had terrible aim. I have made up my mind; i jumped and climbd down the tree. "To my house...let's go!" Isabelle and I followed Ramundo to his car and we drove off. "Is everyone alright?" i asked everyone nods. -
