Nowell heard the gunfire. She was used to it, living in central, but this was close...too close for comfort.
She hurried to the door, carrying her small stuffed blue kitty. She was stopped at the door by a soldier, who ushered her back into the room.
"Miss Nowell, I have orders to keep you in this room. Don't worry."He said when he saw her scared look "Your mother and Amiti are coming, and your father is handling matters."
She relaxed a little, but was still scared. The other soldier posted at the door walked in, picking the small three year old up and bringing her to her bed.
"Miss-"The soldier started as a blonde woman ran into the room, a blue haired ten year old boy followed her, eyes wide "Nowell."He said, running over to his sister.
The soldier nodded to the woman and went out to guard the door.
The two kids looked at their mom as she sat on the bed.
They waited a few minutes, then came the terrible news "President Mustang has disapeared."
The woman had clung to her children as the gunshots rang out, and the soldiers at the door had been killed.
A figure dressed in a military uniform with a hood that shadowed it's face appeared. The voice was muffled, as if behind cloth, when it announced "Miss Risa, I'm afraid your going to have to give us custody of the children."
Risa had clung tighter to the two at that, shaking her head.
"Very well." The voice said, and a sword and gun was drawn.
Two men appeared from the windows and grabbed the children while the leader held Risa at gun point, the sword's tip touching the ground lightly.
"Please..." Risa started, then began to reach for her gun. The leader shot, and Amiti's eyes went wide. Nowell began to cry, reaching for her mom as they dragged her away through the window.
"I'm sorry, Miss Risa, but you don't have a say." The leader said, following the men out the window.
They were on a train the next time Nowell's mind registered anything. The men hadn't tried to harm either of them, in fact, it was the oppisite.
They treated the two kids kindly.
"This is wrong..."Amiti said, shaking his head "Something is wrong.."
Nowell nodded, stiffling a yawn. The train suddenly stopped. One of the soldiers, an Ishvalan, rushed through toward the front.
Nowell glimpsed blonde hair, and heard a man's voice.
"No, you heard wrong. It went as Mustang planned. No one was injured. I'm sorry you came out here for nothing, sir."The soldier said.
"What!?" Amiti's outrage sounded loud and clear.
"I see. I had no idea. Mustang always seems to cause me trouble." He said, then sighed "Can I see them, Miles? I never got to meet them."
The soldier hesitated, then said "Of course, sir. But be quick, we need to get going."
A few minutes later a blonde man appeared, and walked over toward the two of them.
"Blue hair? Alright then. So you two must be Nowell Mustang and Amiti Mustang."
The two kids didn't respond, just glared.
"Yeah, you definetly are Mustang's kids alright." The man laughed, then nodded to the soldiers. Before he left, he placed his hands together, then handed Nowell the contents inside. A silver locket.
"T-thank you." Nowell stuttered, looking at it closely. It looked like whatever he had used to transmute it had been older, but it still was very pretty, with a flame design on the front, and a bird on the back.
"I figure you'll want that...what with you being kidnapped and all"He smiled, then waved, starting to head out. He turned back around, remembering something, and handed Nowell and Amiti a pair of gloves each."I stole these from your dad years ago, but I can't really use them."With that, he began to leap out of the door, as the train started.
"Wait! Who are you!" Amiti asked, eyes wide.
"Hmm, I suppose you could call me Edward." with that, the man left, and the train started again.
That was 12 years ago. I'm 15 now, and my brother is 22. I hate my father with all my being, though my brother respects him.
It's hard to hate him in public, though, what with him being leader of our country and all.
But I've sworn, when I get my chance, I will burn his face off.
No matter how many times my brother says he was protecting us.
I remember the one time I actually got to spend time with him. As soon as a soldier came in, he was gone, leaving me alone.
My brother came in not too long after and took me out for a walk, but I can never shake the feeling that I'm not important to him. Even when we were together, he had this faraway look, and when he looked at me he seemed....upset.
My brother rebels against him, even if he won't do it verbally or physically. He learned alchemy based on the element of water.
I learned the same kind of alchemy my father uses, but not to impress him. I'm improving it.
I promise you, I will show him.
You can't get rid of me that easily.
Amiti's log:
What Nowell doesn't realize is dad was trying to save us from being used as hostages by some men from Drachma who had made multiple threats and a coupel attempts.
But you really can't blame her.
I left the small town of Briar where we lived three years ago.
Nowell made a friend with a murderous background, named Sveta.
As if that didn't scare me enough, I heard she's heading to central.
If there's a god out there that cares, stop her. -
Coolio :O
