This is only my second poem, so....yeah. Be gentle. :P

THE LONELY BOY
He was known as
The Lonely Boy.
Not out of spite or hate,
Instead admiration.
Unlike many,
He enjoyed the solitude
Found comfort within his mind,
Or so he thought.
For you see,
One day
As the Boy stood in thought,
They arrived:
His inner demons
Tormentors of the worst kind,
For they were undeniable, unforgettable,
They were part of him.
Though he told himself,
"Do not fear, do not fret.
They shall do me no harm,
They wouldn't dare."
He was wrong:
They did dare.
They had always been present, and yet,
He wasn't prepared for what came next.
Their attack through the mind:
Bringing back moments from the past
That he had once buried in shame.
Bringing out the worst in him,
Shedding light on his faults,
On his failures and tribulations.
Questioning his decisions,
A dark cloud over his shelter.
Eventually,
He feared it:
The demons, their willingness
To break him at the seams.
But the boy had his ego,
His pride on the line.
He protected it,
With his words.
He told himself
And those around him,
That he enjoyed the solitude.
Truth was, he was hiding.
Hiding from the memories,
Brought back by them.
Hiding from the dark, crowded
Room that his mind had become.
Openly, he resented them.
Secretly, he challenged them.
Fought the inner battle,
And always lost.
Now, he's quit trying
Lets the demons and negativity flow.
Though he never quit fearing
His thoughts, his mind, himself.
He was known as the Lonely Boy, By others and by himself.
But nobody stopped,
To ponder the thought,
"What really goes on inside him?" -

That was really good...but its not a poem..its ballad...ballads tell the story of someones life...which this is... even if the person is made up...but its really good nikki
