I hate using the verb chortle. It sounds like a sound a pig would make. But it's better than repetitively using laugh, chuckle or giggle.

I've got an idea for the sequel of From Opposite Ends Of The Earth :0
So, Theo has gone back to Paris (left in February), leaving Hazel on her own in Australia. They broke up after a few months because long distance wasn't working. 10 months later, in December, Hazel's family goes on a holiday to Paris. Hazel is excited to see Theo, thinking maybe they could get back together, but Theo was too devastated that he got in a rebound relationship with a French girl, (insert name here lol). Naturally, Hazel is sad. The two decide to stay friends; Theo and Hazel obviously still like each other, but both they think the other has moved on. And to make things worse, Theo's friend keeps flirting with Hazel.

Their movements are purposeful, and a subtle aura of mystery surrounds them, reflecting the clandestine world of hacking and uncovering hidden truths.
Not sure who this character is yet. Thinking the description could be for some kind of digital conspiracy story or sum -

The corrupt ringmaster, adorned in faded finery, manipulates the circus with a sinister charisma, exploiting performers and animals for personal gain while concealing a web of deceit beneath the colorful spectacle. His anxiety manifests as a relentless unease, a constant fear of exposure and consequence for his harmful actions, creating a turbulent internal struggle between guilt and the drive to maintain a facade of indifference.
He remains mysterious to the many abused performers of his mysterious circus; the only thing they know of him is his name: Gloria Thorn.
The spectacle of the circus which seems so harmless on the outside is ridden with dark and evil secrets, secrets which one of the new recruits wishes to know. She starts to convince the other performers, people and things who’ve been broken and abused by Thorn for years - some much, much longer - to rise up against the ringmaster. Soon, the performers find out some dark secrets about Thorn’s past, but what will they do? Will they continue to suffer in silence, or will they ruin Gloria Thorn’s empire forever?

With a voice that drips with manipulation, he orchestrates schemes, weaving a web of corruption beneath the vibrant circus tents. Thorn's unsettling mastery of illusion conceals his true motives, making him a puppeteer of fear within the macabre world he commands.

With a past shrouded in mystery, rumours suggest dealings with the occult and dark rituals. Thorn's twisted delight in exploiting both performers and exotic creatures paints him as a malevolent puppeteer orchestrating a grand spectacle of suffering. Behind the façade of the dazzling circus, he thrives on the fear she instills, revelling in the power he wields over the shadows that dance beneath the tent.
