The abyssal halls of the damned, rotting castle seemed to stretch on forever. The halls were so dark, my lantern barely lit them. The light would only illuminate a few inches in front of me. This castle was unnatural and had me deeply unsettled. I had heard many stories about it before. There were tales of devils luring people into the ruined halls to procure sustenance. I had heard rumors about a queen somewhere in the line f---ing a demon and having its child. But the most common hearsay was that the castle was held under the grip of a sorcerer. I wanted to explore these halls to find the truth. But now I find that I regret it. The first floor was seemingly normal, but there were odd things all around. There were deep slash marks in the walls. There was broken glass covering the floors of some rooms where mirrors and windows had been smashed. There were what looked like scorch marks on all of the surfaces. I was unsure if this was the work of vandals or something else.
As I continue my march forward I can't help but feel that I'm walking into the jaws of a predator. My heart was uneasy and could not be stilled. It seemed to beat faster and faster with every step I took. The silence in the castle was eerie and unwelcoming. Although I could hear no sound, I couldn't help but feel like there was something else in there with me. I find myself walking past a door. The first door I had seen after climbing up the stone steps that led me to the second floor. I try opening the door and it doesn't budge. A huge dent in the metal frame appears to be keeping the door from opening. The implications of doors becoming unusable shakes me to the core due to the stories I've heard about this damned place.
There are more doors around this hall. I walk over to one directly next to the broken door. I open it and cringe as the hinges squeal and creak. My lantern lights this room completely. What I find in it only heightens my sense of unease. Everything is still in this room, none of the belongings of the previous occupant were gone. I could not fathom why the first floor would have things missing but the second would not. -
I hear the door creak shut behind me! I run over and try opening it. I hear a hideous, dry laugh echo through the room. Something appears to my left! A horrible apparition of a man. It grabs me. I lash out and flail my limbs violently. After a moment it disappears. My chest heaves rapidly. What the f--- was that?
