Title: The Ranting Journal
The themes I've chosen are: Death
Warnings: This may be violent for some viewers, suicide warning.
Other: I’m just doing this contest for fun. If I win that’s fine, but I really don’t need a prize.
It was June 12th, everyone was leaving class, and a girl had dropped her journal on the floor. In concern, a boy named Jaxson picked it up and yelled for her. She didn’t even glance back, just kept on walking. She didn’t care if he read her journal, she said, there was nothing too important.
At 6:53 that day, the journal seemed to whisper to him, to come and pick it up. He shook his head at it as if to say, “No, it’s private, I’m not doing that.” But the longer it sat there, the longer he couldn’t resist. So he picked it up and started reading.
His mind went crazy when he saw the first page. There was pencil scribbles all over the pen writing, and there was red splotches on the page, as if someone bled on it.
He got an eraser and erased the pencil scribbles so he could read it.
June 5th
Mom got really angry at dad and just left. I don’t even know what it was about, but dad started yelling at me, yanking me by the hair and saying it was all my fault. I wish he’d understand, I wish my friends at school would understand, but no one does. They just ignore and go on with life. Maybe I wasn’t meant to be here...
June 8th,
My friends told me I was too useless to be their friend. Dad’s been drinking a lot and is still blaming me for mom leaving. But I don’t even know what happened, I don’t know why she left. Did she leave because of me? Maybe I am useless...
“Jaxson it’s time for dinner!”
All of a sudden, Jaxson was snapped out of reading and said, “Coming mom!”
Jaxson went in the dining room and sat down. His dad has the news on, and the news reporter was talking about sports.
“Here you go Jaxson,” mom said, laying a plate in front of him. He had a steak, with potatoes and carrots.
“Thanks.”
Jaxson turned to the TV, and the news reporter said, “It’s time for our break.”
The TV then switched to a commercial.
“Do you know someone who is at risk of suicide? Are you at risk? If so, call 1-800-273-8255 for help [ yes this is an actual number you can get help at ] and get help today!
“If you know someone who needs help like that, you need to tell us, or at least try to help,” dad says.
When Jaxson went back to his room, it was 8:00.
He read more of the journal, when all of a sudden, there was one last page.
He flipped through the journal, there were a lot of blank pages after that. That’s when he decided to read the last page.
It was written today.
I’m jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge tonight.
Jaxson gasped. He ran to get his coat and his keys to the car.
“Jaxson, where are you going?” mom asks, but he doesn’t answer. He jumps in the car and starts the engine, and speeds off.
When he arrived at the Golden Gate Bridge, he drove on it until he saw her.
She was standing on it.
“Don’t do it!”
She doesn’t hear. He gets out of the car, and runs to her.
She jumps.
He grabs her hand.
She isn’t grateful.
“Let me go!” she yells.
“No!” he says, and pulls her up. She’s kicking and punching but he won’t let her die. He sits her down, and she fights more, but he’s holding on tight to her, and she calms down.
“Why didn’t you set me free?” she asks in a small voice. “I feel dead even before I am.”
“Because you deserve to be on this world as much as everyone else does.”
She looks up at him, and that’s when he realized that’s the first time he’d ever seen her eyes.
“Come on, let’s get you to my house. You can stay there for tonight...”

I feel like you could almost turn it into the theme of love too. I mean it may not be a romantic kind of love, but he saved her life. And that's a pretty loving thing to do.
