Thread Topic: Things you've noticed in books.
-
So, basically, you just put things down that you've repetively noticed in many different books.
-
One thing I've noticed are whirlpools. In The Inheritance Cycle, the Septimus Heap series, and the Dragonlance chronicles, there's one whirlpool that no one dares go near, because it's deadly and no one has ever survived going through it.
-
Another thing I've noticed is that there's always an eccentric person in many books. They bring fun, and intellectual questions to us.
-
I notice more the differentness in them compared to other books I've read. I recently read a series that had Paper magicians in it. As in, people who make magical things with nothing but paper. I want to ask the author what was going on in their head when they came up with that.
-
That would be interesting.
-
Or a book where they extracted the life years in your blood and turned it into money. When you ran out if years you died. BUT you could eat the coins and get the years that went into the coin!
Just. How do you think this up?? -
That's confusing.
I have absolutely no idea. I've never read any books like that. -
Would you like the titles and authors so you can try to read them?
-
uh . . . Yeah.
-
They are both series:
"The Paper Magician" by Charlie N. Holmberg
I can't remember the name of the other book currently, I'll tell it to you monday. -
Ok. Thanks!
-
I think I have heard of them, now that I think about it. I heard the title of the paper magician, and the theme of that other book.
-
Has anyone wondered why it's either a happy ending, or everyone dies?
-
I noticed that there’s always a weird, eccentric character that isn’t really good or bad, and thoroughly tests the patience of the main or semi-main characters.
-
Or the wit in some cases, one that I can think of.
