I'm looking to write stories that bash stereotypes, cliches, etc. So what are you tired of reading about in stories and why?

good stories with bland, boring love interests shoehorned in because writers feel like every character needs one
some examples:
The Dead Zone by Stephen King (seriously, why tf was she even there??)
Midnight Plan of the Repo Man by W. Bruce Cameron (at least this one had some relevance to the story but...she didn't really do much?? except be a damsel in distress in the end)
Literally any YA -
