menhera NewbieDo you guys think it's obnoxious when people use obscure words in writing? Like have you seen words like adulation and scintillating in writing?
But I like some of these words though -
It all depends on the type of story, setting, and character you are using. Big words can make your book and/or character sound mature and intelligent. However, if you are writing for a kid or young teen audience, using big words may confuse, startle, and possibly anger your readers.
So in conclusion, I would say it is great to use big words, just as long as you know how to use them wisely. -
As long as they don't overuse them and have them in every single sentence. Otherwise i am alright with them being used.

That's a lot of words

It was something I had to read for school, some essay written by George Orwell called Politics and the English Language. It was a lot of words lol but made sense. Could benefit a lot of writers out there... The point was really not to write overused phrases, bad metaphors, or you unnecessarily long words, which can distort the meaning. The essay was worth reading, even though it took a while lol
