Thread Topic: Who agrees with me

Well, they're at least worse than all of Rick Riordan's other books.
-
Completely disagreed.
But I'd like to know why you think it sucks. -
They aren't too bad, but some things in them just kind of suck. Like Sam for instance, as far as I know Muslims are supposed to be all peaceful and stuff, so her being a Valkyrie makes no sense. And in the second book, I was perfectly fine with there being a gender fluid character, but I found it extremely annoying that like half the book was talking about how Alex was gender fluid. And my brothers have the same opinion on these things.
-
Samirah al-Abbas... She is a Muslim. She isn't violent, she's just doing her job. Besides, she follows her religion quite well. Better than rest of the Muslims in the real world.
Mhm, you've read the second book, eh? :P -

She chose to be a Valkyrie I'm pretty sure, so yeah.
-
Honestly I don't really care about the Valkyrie thing, I didn't even notice how it doesn't quite make sense until my bother mentioned it, so whatever about that.
-
I actually love the first book, and most of the second book is great, it's just the constant talking about Alex being gender fluid that I don't like, it's annoying. Like we get it, Alex is gender fluid, can we please continue with the actual plot now?
-
Because she loves flying. She can't be a pilot in such a young age, so she chose to be a Valkyrie - as an alternative to being a pilot.
Valkyries are supposed to bring heroes to Valhalla.
Then she got chosen for a quest.
She became violent, true. But she was violent for the baddies. She fought for goodness and fought against evil. She fought Loki, her own biological mother.
Alex is gender-fluid. But it's necessary to know if she's a guy or a girl on that day. It's not annoying at all.
No offence. I'm just putting my opinion. ^_^ -
I don't have a problem with having her say if she's a guy or a girl, I have a problem with the conversation dragging on about it for no reason instead of just being like:
"I'm a girl right now."
"Okay."
And then they talk about what's important or do what they have to do. -
"Through Magnus well-meaning but ignorant gaze, the reader learns about gender fluidity, being transgender, the perils of transphobia, and the history of gender fluid and transgender individuals according to Norse mythology, theyve existed as long as Norse gods have. (Certainly longer, too.) Yet Riordan also emphasizes that Alexs story is not every transgender or gender fluid persons tale. She is one of many: being the only gender fluid or transgender person Magnus knows does not make her a mascot."
Besides, there are some ignorant peeps who needs to know about gender fluidit. -
As I myself, am gender fluid.
-
^
-
I suppose, but I am easily annoyed by things, so that's just how I feel.
-
Lol.
Rick Riordan gave too much "attitude" to Alex. I'm annoyed by it.
