Wiesel just recently passed away and I thought I'd make this thread because I was curious to see if anyone else had read Night.
I first read Night as a reading assignment in school and was very hesitant to read it because I usually don't like what I am forced to read. However only pages into his story I was filled with many emotions, mostly sadness. I finished the book in a couple hours, it being less than 200 pages, I believe. It's so interesting to read about the Holocaust from a survivors point of view because everything he said was genuine and heartfelt.
Night is a real story, Wiesel's, story of being a Jew during the WWII era. His family was forced to move from their home into a a concentration camp. But the journey there is so terrifying. All of the situations he describes are horrifying, but real. From never seeing his mother and sister again after they first arrive at the Camp, because they're presumably burned alive. He and his father are the only things they have that keep each other alive. I won't spoil anything else though.
Night is definitely one of the best books I've read and one of the only to actually make me tear up. If you haven't read it, I suggest you do.
I haven't read anything else he wrote, but if you have, please share.
