Thread Topic: hmm, just maybe a small question.

Anybody got any tips or anything for when writing a story? I just want to probably get some, try to improve myself with writing them. I like writing stories, but I know I could be better and want to know if any of you know of any things that may help me, by any chance. If so, thank you very much.

Learning about the Hero's Journey is probably a good start. It'll teach you about things like structure and pace, and pretty much every good story has some degree of Journey in it.
Plan out the story before you write. Especially the ending. You should know how a story ends before you know how a story begins.
Write the story you want to read, not one you think others want to read. If you won't read the story, how can you expect others to?
A main character should have at least one flaw or weakness. Perfect characters are not very interesting. Theyre also harder to feel something in common with or care about. And they dont have anything to learn. In the same way, there should be at least one thing good about a bad guy.
Remember as well, by the end of the story, the main character must have overcome or come to terms with his flaws and become a better person because of it.
Also, everything on this list:
Especially 5, 8, 11, 13, and 17.
