Lord Dominik's Regards is an item in a popular MMO game called League of Legends. It's literally just a weapon, but I had a dream about it's "past" and I decided I wanted to write it out. I own rights to the story. Feel free to comment, rate it, tell me what you liked or didn't like, ect.
Part 1
Shining brightly in the night sky, the moon illuminated sections of the woods that would show through the thick leaves of the trees in the forest. Along the forest floor, light reflected off of scarlet droplets that clung to the leaves like morning dew. An ant crept up to one of the drops, but decided that whatever the liquid was, it didn't smell appealing. It scuttled away to a leaf that had not been reached by the bloodshed.
Beyond the ant, deeper into the forest, a figure was limping through the dirt. The figure wasn't tall, nor was he small, and he had a rather slim figure. Though his hair was normally a beautiful, sunlight blonde, it was covered in dirt and the same red liquid that covered the leaves where the ant had trekked. His clothes were in the same condition, and on a closer look, it was apparent that he had his hand clamped over his lower waist. Blood was oozing past the hand. Some of it dripped on his clothes, staining the fabric further, while the rest fell to the floor.
Within a few minutes, the figure had to crouch down momentarily to gain his breath. His emerald-like eyes reflected his pain, his weariness. With his non-bloody hand, he reached up and brushed his sticky hair behind his pointed ears. As he laid his head back to lean against a tree, a sigh escaped his lips. It was not a sad sigh, or a tired sigh, nor was it one of relief. It was simply a sound made to please him.
He did not move a muscle for the next few minutes. It wasn't until he heard leaves crunching not too far away from him that he finally stood and resumed moving on. The figure's footsteps were so soft that he did not make but a few leaves rustle beneath his feet, and it was easy to avoid the other person; they were loud, though as he moved further away they got quieter until he could not hear them at all. However, he knew with growing disappointment that his blood would point fingers at him, and he would be found once more when the other person realized he lost track of the elf.
As the elf moved to hide behind a tree to rest, he felt a shiver run through his body. Muscles tensed like a cat about to spring, he closed his eyes. Whomever had harmed him was there now, and he was too tired to run off. His fate had come. He would be finished by the beast. He slowly turned, opening his eyes. What he saw was not the beast he had fought earlier, but instead a woman.
She was of the same species, for her ears were pointed as his own. Similar, sunlight-like blonde hair curled around her soft-structured face, outlining her beauty. The yellow curls swept past her face to her chest, curling in the same direction; forward. Soft, pink lips were drawn up in a smile. Unlike the male, she was not donning bloody clothes, and no dirt could be seen in sight. She was beautiful, as he would have been in other circumstances.
She was his Queen.
"Lord Dominik," the woman uttered his name. Her voice was soothing, yet had a ring like a bell to it. "You are injured yet again, I see. Why do you insist on taking on the beasts of this forest? You have a simple weapon, and you know that you could not harm a fly if someone had an arrow pointed at your throat."
Dominik was silent. He looked to the floor, ashamed. It was rather true. He could not hurt any other living animal. He had been brought up by his kin to be strong in heart above all else. It was that reason why he was not the strongest of his Queen's lords. The elf's strengths were elsewhere. Often times he wondered if she considered taking another man to watch over her lands. He was in charge the part of the kingdom that connected their world to the human world. From what whispered he heard, the Queen trusted him to make the right choice if they were to ever happen across a human.
A long time ago, humans and elves used to be friends. It was a bond that was almost as strong as the bond of lovers. However, a human betrayed the Queen's daughter and slaughtered her in cold blood; thus, a war broke out between the two strongest species in existence. Though smart and swift, the elves had not an ounce of hope in them; the princess had been slain by whom they thought were their allies. They retreated to a part of the world untouched by humans and lived out their lives. Whenever a human wandered into their land, most lords wanted to see their heads on a silver platter. However, Dominik was different. Though he feared the humans' power, he did not wish them dead. For, there was something special about them. Human hearts lacked the magic properties of an elf's heart. If a human were not careful, they would lose their life without a fight. That is why Dominik was given status as Lord of the Gateway to the human world; if another was in charge, he would probably have any human executed immediately. Even the youngest human children that were lost and scared would meet their end.
Thus, Dominik's love for life was hated by many of the other lords. His love cost him friends. He only had one; and she was standing before him in all of her glory.
"Dominik, did you hear a word I said?" The Queen's soothing voice sounded rather irritated. However, she was merely pouting, as a small child would. "I do believe that your injury could not possibly affect your ability to speak. You do not appear to be in much pain."
"I apologize, my lady," the male elf finally responded to her, regaining control of his thoughts. It should not matter what he could do. It only mattered what he had and how he used it to his advantage. "The beast only snagged my skin. I would have been back at the Gate, but I forgot to bring bandages in my haste." He dipped his head down despite the fact that he had not brought his gaze up to her own. She laughed, gliding across the forest floor to his side.
"You are helpless, Dominik," she sounded quieter beside him, Dominik realized.
"I'm aware, my Queen." He looked up at her, then looked ahead. "I'm aware."
