History:
There are many realms within worlds, though few produce stable lifeforms such as humans. Some believe that there is only one realm per world that has purebred humans. The other realms produce creatures of all sorts, some born of darkness, some of light, some of garbage, some from the wind or water, ect. Each realm focuses on one element and allows monsters to reside there. The monsters are afraid of the humans, and the humans are afraid of monsters. Neither side is quite sure on what each species is actually like, but no one had crossed the boundary to find out.
At least, that was until a particular monster rose to power. This monster wasn't of any lower breed, in fact, they belonged to a species taken to the highest regard. In human standards, this monster belonged to a royal family, though royalty worked a bit different through monsters' realms. Anyone who was in such high standard had the power to legitimately control any lower species, no matter how strong or weak that monster's will to fight back was. Such species usually caused hazards, or wars. Though no name was known for them, they were called Vehemens bestia, or 'the powerful beast' in English. And any heir to their "throne" lived up to the name.
The monster that rose to power was called Lonvanue, and though their name held no meaning, they made it hold meaning. For thousands of years, humans and monsters had made no contact, hiding from one another in fear of what would happen. Lonvanue wanted nothing more than to meet humans.. And wipe them from existence completely. Using his massive amount of power, the cruel Vehemens bestia worked every monster in existence day and night to create a passageway to the human's realm. It took many trials and failures, as any thing would, but they eventually made the perfect portal. Lonvanue used this to lead his puppets to war.
The humans had known that an attack would happen, but no one had planned for so many to attack their realm. They were horribly outnumbered and overpowered, but no one wanted to lose. After all, the humans saw themselves as the ones who were correct: Monsters were nothing but filthy scum that had to be brought down. None of them knew that deep down, every last species of monster apart from the Vehemens bestia were afraid and didn't want to fight at all. But none of them cared.
For many, many years, humans and monsters fought. Many lives from both sides were lost. The battle ended when Lonvanue, weakened horribly from using so much power for so long, was killed by a small group of humans. The humans had won the battle, and there was to be a huge party. After the other monsters were exterminated, of course. Confused and scared, every monster scattered for the portal, merely wanting to go home. But the humans destroyed the portal, keeping them away from their homes. Now, there was a whole species with a blood lust, and the monsters saw the light Lonvanue had in his eyes reflected in theirs. None of the species were strong enough to fight back, however, and so many tried to hide. Those that could not hide were held captive by rich humans and used in battles, as slaves, or experimented on.
Without a Vehemens bestia, none of them could return to their homes. However, a few hundred years down the line, a young monster was put inside a battle arena outside of an airport. He carried blood of a Vehemens bestia, but his power hadn't awakened. Not until a young female adult stepped into the rink to fight him... -

Backstory (Part 1)
Giselle's POV
I was never really one for romantics. I mean, all through high school, I had boys throw catcalls at me and was touched in various places. The roses were cute, but I didn't like them. I usually avoided proms to the best of my ability. It wasn't until I met him did I find out how much I appreciated a lot of things. Like dirty talk. Or to feel lips on my throat. Ah, sorry, I got carried away. The point is.. I've never fallen so hard for someone. Especially not a monster.
I remember us meeting as clear as day. They were asking for a brave warrior to step up and fight some monsters. Whoever did it would get paid a hell of a lot of money. I wasn't going to pass the offer up.. So I did it. Killed a few of them, whispered apologizes to every last one. Except for Malaki. Malaki was sneaky, oh dear lord was he sneaky.. He didn't die. Made a big scene, though. And made it look like he had. I got paid alright. Paid in full with a loving beast to take care of. I think the story went a bit like this..

3rd person POV
Swarms of people were running around the area. Many planes were taking off late at the airport because some monsters were running lose at landing sites. People were irritated, but there was nothing more valuable than their safety. Among these people, there was a woman. She was just like the others scrambling to get into the airport, and was nothing special. Her bright blue eyes reflected her normally bright emotions, and her hair might have been curled up that day, but she was just another person in a crowd. Everyone had a place to be. So did Giselle Fay Halstead.
Giselle moaned in pain as she sat down on a nearby bench. Her heels were killing her small, dainty feet. There was no way she could have worn her more comfortable shoes that day, however, and she had unhappily accepted that fact. A job was a job, after all, and if it required her to wear such godawful shoes she supposed she could.
However, these shoes were of no use to the blonde haired woman if the plane she was supposed to get on had left. The ticket she received had the wrong time on them, and instead of being an hour early, she was an hour late. Normally, Giselle wouldn't have minded being late, but nothing had ever been so important. This job, which was set in the city of Yennus, had been something that would have turned her miserable life around. She had been offered a chance to work with monsters of all kinds-- to be able to find out all about them and be famous, like the other scientists were. Rich, too. This interview would have been her history. However..
"If you don't show up, the deal is off," she grunted in a deep, mocking voice. (She was mocking the man who gave her the offer in the first place). "There are no second chances.. You do what it takes to get here, and if you don't make it, you don't get the job.. Yeah, yeah. I get it. No second chances.. Totally, totally unfair. One dumb typo costs me a bright future." She shifted her body, moving so that her whole body would take up the space of the bench. A few people glanced at her as she spoke to herself, but as mentioned before, people had places to go. Places to be. And crazy was normal, in their opinion.
For several minutes, Giselle laid there on the bench, gazing at the large building she would have been entering. There were several cars pulling up to the entrances, there were lines seeping out of said entrances, and it was overall a busy day. Every few minutes, a plane would take off, but the roar of the crowd blocked the sound of the plane starting up and flying into the air. There was no single conversation she could drop in on before hearing another that would interest her. In that aspect, she admired the work of humans, and how companionship built humans this way. Though, the reality that she had none hit her right in the chest. The young adult had no one to rely on but herself, and it was for that reason why she was trying to support herself on her own. Trying, that is.
Though watching people fight through crowds amused her, she couldn't stick around much longer. It would be far more important to find a way to make money to replace the useless ticket than it would be to lie around in public moping about it. Sighing, she pulled her heels back onto her feet and stood from the bench. It was hard to get a job in this city without being close to one of the richer classed people. Those with money were the ones in charge of nearly everything, because they usually possessed one of man's greatest fears: a monster. Any man who owned such a beast was put in the highest regard. But they were the ones who decided who got a job. For someone like Giselle Fay Halstead to get a job so easily would be hard. She had struggled to get this mere interview set up that had stealthily slipped from her fingers.
Just as Giselle was preparing to walk back to the bus loading area, a voice over the speakers caught her attention.
"Come one, come all!" The voice shrieked through the speakers. Not many people were paying attention, though some were standing around as she was. "Strong or weak, rich or poor, we need a hero. We need another savior. We need.. A beast slayer. One of you! Need some money? Come to the arena beside this beautiful airport! Any one of you lucky b------s can snag a chance to fight beasts upon beasts and score cash helping us out! Weapons will be provided, and medical treatment after the 'boss fight' will be available. Please do come."
The voice stopped flowing through the speakers as suddenly as it had started to. A few people had started to walk away from their spots, off towards the arena. None of them were female. Giselle pondered if she should actually go through with her gut and go attempt to fight beasts. She was a woman, after all.. A lazy woman who needed cash. "Count me in," she muttered as she stalked off towards the fighting rank. If she survived this, she hoped it'd make her mother proud. -

Mutator-
A species similar to a shapeshifter. They can turn into anything you desire that is living. They prey on emotions of humans, though they may decide to eat plants instead. They can only die if cut fully in half. They have a fear of children, however, because they cannot keep up with children's wishes as easily as an adult and often are confused by them.
Nottenwolf-
A monster similar to a wolf, but is disproportionate in every way. Sometimes, they have mushrooms growing along their fur, normally on their back. They smell strongly like mold and mildew and often have horrid breath. One stomp can send a person flying through the air. They fear fire.
Dejurhan-
A being that is extremely tall and likes to drag trees along with it. It feasts on plants, and enjoys tree leaves (because they're like giraffes and can actually reach treetops). They speak inside of minds and like riddles. Slow, but physically strong.
Vehemens bestia-
Mother/God/King/Queen of all monster life. They have both a monster form and human form, though they prefer to stay in monster form. Their strength is immense, and almost godlike, though it weakens over use and each generation grows weaker. All Vehemens bestias' eyes are pink, a rare color in both monster and human eye ranges. Most have are calm and motherly like, though some turn out the opposite and seek bloodshed.
