Prologue: The Fight With The Evil King.
"Now is the time for you to die!" Ganondorf yells, raising his weapon. My left arm useless and my right badly damaged, it's all I can do to just dodge his attacks. Struggling to lift the Master Sword with my right arm, I try to parry his next attack, succeeding but also knocking the blade out of my hand. I grunt in pain as I just barely roll out of his way, but pause when I see Zelda's unconscious body behind the giant Gerudo King. "Zel-da.." My vision was quickly fading, and my body becoming heavier. Regardless, I wipe a strand of black hair out of my left eye and struggle to get to my feet. Ganondorf's shadow is now looming over me, and I raise my head to glare at him just as he jabs his sword through my chest. An inevitable scream escapes my throat, and the pain radiates throughout my chest. After an agonizing minute, the King of the Gerudo yanks his sword out of my body, causing me to fall and spasm on the ground. Coughing up blood, I desperately cling to life, but to no avail. The blood is leaving my body at an alarming rate, and after a moment more, my breathing slows and eventually stops.
"Hero of Dimensions, hear my voice. The Goddess reborn is going to die unless you slay the Demon King. All that's left is your dark powers, but you must embrace them to save the one you love!"
It's cold, I can't move, and I don't want to. I failed you, I failed her, I failed Hyrule. I'll never be like him, a true hero. I'm just a useless kid who has no business disrupting the balance of dimensions.
"Mike, no!"
My eyes open, my vision slowly returning. "The one I love..."
The fires of rage have awoken inside me, consuming the very essence of my spirit. "You shan't take her! I will make you suffer!" Ganondorf looks back over to me, a look of surprise on his face. A loud scream escapes my throat once more, beginning my transformation. Black fire surrounds my feet, and my tunic and cap burn to black. My hair changes from black to snow white, and my eyes glow red. The wounds sustained on my body begin to heal, the dark magic taking effect. Without picking up the Blade of Evil's Bane, I sprint over to Ganondorf, punching him in the gut and sending him flying. I notice that Zelda is now conscious, and I free her from the giant imprisonment crystal. "Mike.." She says, taking a look behind me. "You.. Kid, what are you?! There's no way you could have survived a direct pierce through the heart!" Without a word I turn around and raise my left arm in front of the princess, glaring at Ganondorf. "The primal desire to protect the one I love gave me strength. It made me use this dark power." He'd had enough, I supposed, as I watched him run toward me. The damage he'd taken was crippling him, however, and he fell to the ground. "Surrender, so that I won't have to stain my hands with your blood." No reply was given, so I sigh and feel the dark magic dissipate from within me. "Mike, you did it! Hyrule is now safe once more!" I take Zelda's hands and pull her closer to me. "I don't care about Hyrule as much as I care about you. I'm just glad you're okay." She silenced me with a light kiss, and we embraced for a moment, before we noticed the setting sun. "Let's go back to the castle, okay?" Zelda asked, before smiling and looking into my eyes. "I'm afraid.. I can't let you leave, boy..." Ganondorf says, standing up. I turn around and glare at him, growling a little. Without another word, he runs toward me and grabs me. "We'll die together!" He jumps off the ledge, still holding me. "No!" The ground below is slowly becoming bigger and bigger, until-
"Mike, are you awake?" My brother, Brandan, asks me. "Huh? What?" I sit up in my bed, at home. Was that all a dream? "I was just curious to see if you were still up." I look at the clock on my Nintendo 3DS, seeing that it is 12:09 in the morning. "Man that was one hell of a dream. I'll be right back." I walk out of my room and into the hallway, heading for the bathroom. After I get in, I notice something peculiar in the mirror. There are various scars all along my body, and the one that sticks out most to me is the one on my chest, right over my heart. "No.. It can't be.." "Hello there, geek..." -
Chapter 1: The Link Between Dimensions.
"Aah!" I turn around as fast as I can to see nothing. "Over here.." I turn back to the bathroom mirror and see it again. "Who are you?! What do you want?!" It laughed for a few seconds before staring at me. "Heed my warning, geek. In seven days time, my master will destroy your dimension as well as Hyrule's. Unless you take this item, they will both be destroyed." Grinning and holding up a necklace of sorts, it waits patiently for me to take it. "Through the mirror?" It nods, and I skeptically raise my hand to take it. The mirror shimmers to my touch, and my hand goes through it. Gasping in surprise, I take the necklace and pull it through to me. "Farewell, 'till we meet again..." The image of the dark figure disappears, leaving me to ponder how the necklace works. Sighing, I leave the bathroom and enter my room, closing the door behind myself. "What's wrong, Mike?" Brandan asks from outside the door. "Nothing, just hallucinating from lack of sleep." I lay down in bed and gaze at the crystal on the necklace. "It's so.. shiny.." A sudden wave of fatigue washes over me, and I instantly pass out.
When next I open my eyes, the first things I see are tree branches. The first thing I feel, however, is numbness. "Mike, you're awake. Thank the Goddesses." I lift my head off the ground and look down. "Uh, Princess..? Ah!" My face turns bright red when I notice Zelda sitting on me. "Morning!" She giggles, poking me. "I tried waking you up, but you wouldn't budge." I blink once and stare at her, still red. "What? Oh, sorry." She gets off me, holding out a hand. I take it and pull myself up, with her help. "What happened after me and Ganondorf fell?" Zelda shrugged. "There was a flash of white light, then both of you disappeared. Afterwords, I noticed you lying here before I reached Castle Town, so I asked the quard to stop the carriage." I nod, rubbing my head. "I see. Wait, Castle Town?" Zelda nodded, looking to the town. "I heard that the town had been raided by moblins, so I came to help out." I look to the ground near the tree, seeing that my gear was still there. After strapping the Master Sword and Hylian Shield to my back, I turn to the town. "Let's get going, shall we?"
