I can hear the tortured screams, the pained moans of children, the crying of newborn babies. I can smell the misery, the emptiness, the sadness and grief. Alone in my bed, confined in my room. Waiting for you. The shouts of devastated people ring in my ears, making my insides shake like jello. I await for you, my escape from misery. The seconds go into minutes, then hours. The sky gets dark, as I start to lose my sanity, my sense of life. I can hear screams outside, and shouts of impatient nurses, as you burst into the room, and run up to me, and hold me in your arms. You kiss me in a comforting way, while the nurses get the doctor to drag you out. You look at me, and instead of seeing a bony, sickly girl, you see a beautiful queen, one that makes your world spin, one that you say is your oxygen. You tell me that you love me, and that you could never imagine losing me. You run out of the room, just in time, as the doctor ran in, shocked. But I couldn't be happier, for my escape from misery has come. (draft)
