Chapter 1: Fate
The cold midnight air hit my face as I ran in the wind. The night was still young, so perhaps James Cultsen could make it in time.
Brown hair, braces, f---les, and a striped T-shirt was his style. He was considered the "weirdo" or the "retard".
Of course, he ignored it and moved on to his real life. Although he was made fun of, James had a few buddies waiting for him at the edge of the creek.
Soon, white puffing in the atmosphere, James caught sight of his mates waving at them. A nerdy girl, a big but gentle guy, and a troublemaker.
Elly Wedd was a very intelligient, but sadly abused kid. She lived a hard life working, but caused her to learn many skills and facts that made her like how she is today. With glasses and some kind of skirt, she was the smartness of the group.
Vlad Grihop was the strongest and calmest of the group. He wasn't a harsh guy though, but he had muscle, so no one made fun of him. His older friends ditched him because of his kindness and found himself with them. He wore blue clothing and black boots. He was the strength of the group.
Herald Donicks, a troubling boy, was filled with mischief. He was the prankster of the neighborhood, but was soon caught and was grounded for months. Many had beat him up for his actions, so decided to try to make up by being with us. He wore some short sleeve T-shirt and jeans. He was the suspense of the group.
And lastly, there was me. James Cultswn, the head of the ship. I was always- and always have been- the creator and manager of everything. I was picked on and made a hang-out, and people came, surprisingly. I was always wearing a black hoodie, to hide my freckled face. I was the leader, as I would say.
Vlad got up and watched as Herald plunged into the creek, then hopped out, soaked. His teeth chattered as his clothes drenched.
Elly giggle at the sight. "Someone looks like a popsicle," she laughed.
Herald grunted and shook like a dog as water got everywhere. I viewed the full moon above us and the forest ahead. Today was our first time venturing to the deep woods together. As a team. It felt good.
Vlad lifted a boulder and heaved it into the water as more splished on Herald. He mumbled yucky vocabulary as Elly's face turned red with laughter.
I turned to them and pointed to the right. "You guys ready to explore?"
Herald got up and tried to salute, while Elly and Vlad nodded.
It was finally time. He knew at that moment, his heart tingled. He didn't have to fit in. He didn't have to try to be like the others. He could be himself, with his friends.
"Let's go!"
