This is a short story I'm writing for school. I'm not finished yet, and I'll post more as I write it. I have to use this short story and make it into a comic after. I would like feedback soon so I can make quick changes.

I felt numb. I wouldn't have thought that after so much pain, I would feel so numb. My usual bright blue dress was stained a crimson red. Two holes were evident in the dress as well. In fact, that's where the blood was spilling from. Getting caught up in a shooting wasn't my idea of a fun day out with my friends. My vision was blurring and darkening. Was I going to die here? The world turned dark. Death seemed inevitable, until I met that person.
I was in a white room. It wasn't very big, but it was very bright. I recognized two of the other victims of the shooting. I didn't personally know them, but I remembered their shocked, lifeless faces after being shot. There was one other person in the room. She was wearing a short black dress and black combat boots. She also had a black hooded cloak on. The hood was up, covering her eyes and placing a shadow over her face. Judging by her height, she couldn't be more than eight years old. The girl raised her head slightly, as if looking at us. Then she said, "please prepare to die."
The girl pulled out a white rod. Then she tapped one of the men's chests and muttered, "Return to the Earth." Ribbons of black light came out of the man's chest, and then he turned to dust. The other man stepped back in fear. There was no escape now, and he knew it. The girl tapped the second man's chest, and the same thing happened to him. The girl in black looked at me. I was next.
The girl walked towards me, and I felt my eyes widen in fear. When she got dangerously close I felt my mouth open, and words split out of my mouth without me realizing it. "Who are you?" I heard myself say. The girl stopped walking and stared at me for a moment. Or at least, I think it was a stare. It was hard to tell with the hood. The girls shoulder started shaking slightly, and then she burst out laughing.
I sat there, a terrified and confused look on my face. The laughing girl clutched her stomach and gradually calmed down. But even after calming down she still had an obvious look of amusement on her face. "Sorry, sorry," the girl said, "It's been such a long time since anyone's asked me a question so simple! I'll answer your simple questions because that one made me laugh as much as it did. Who am I, huh? Well, my name is Letum."
I frowned slightly. Her name meant death in Latin. "Okay. Letum, what did you do to those people?"
Letum grinned, "I removed their souls. Souls are still anchored to the living world after death, and it's possible for those who have died to return to the living world if that link isn't cut. That's why it's our job to remove those links. Oh, I answered what and why. Oh well, bonus!"
I stared at her in disbelief. She said all that so casually. I decided to ask another question while I was still here. "What are you?"
"A soul collector," Letum answered simply, "Although, I suppose that the more modern term would be a Reaper. I'm not the only one. There are many others, all chosen by an angel and a devil."
A Reaper? I was standing face to face with a Reaper? I tried my best to look calm, but I had a feeling that this girl knew I was terrified on the inside. "Do you like your job?"
Letum frowned slightly, and then her smile returned. "Well, I like my job. But I need a break. It gets boring after a while." She stopped talking, her mouth still open like she was going to say something else. "I think I've said a bit too much. Please prepare to die."
My eyes widened once again and I put my hands in front of myself in an attempt to guard against Letum. "Wait!" I shouted, "Let me do your job for you!"
Letum stopped moving her rod, and the rod wasn't too far from me. She hesitated, and then pulled back her rod. She smirked. "You know, you're an odd human. Not many would try to make a deal with a Soul Collector." She thought for a moment then responded, "Alright, fine. You can take my place. But in return, I have control over your soul, and I can remove it whenever I'd like to. Understand?"
I nodded.
Letum tapped my head with her white rod. The rod glowed, and ribbons of white light flowed into me through my head. "Alright, I now have control over your soul, and now you have my powers. The last thing necessary is for you to say your name."
I hesitated. Was this the right choice? I shook my head. Right choice or not it was better than dying, so I would take it. "Hana Flora," I answered.
Letum nodded and touched my forehead. She gave off a faint light and as she spoke, she began to disappear. "Let the souls of Hana Flora and Letum Metus be combined, and the contract made. Ordior."
With those words I gained a new voice in my head, and my life as a Soul Collector began.

Sorry about any punctuation mistakes. I copied and pasted from a word document, and it removed quotation marks and apostrophes. -
"Im coming!" I shouted, rushing to the desk in my family's flower store, Blooms for You. I helped a man pay for his flowers, took the money, and dismissed him like how I'd been told. My older brother came in and took over for me. I went upstairs to the living area above our store. I sat down and sighed. I'd been working all morning.
There's nothing to do today, the voice of Letum mumbled in my head. After she completed the contract, she's been sharing a body with me. Our souls were combined, and she chose to simply reside in my conscience. Not that I minded very much. It was better than her controlling my body.
Well at least we have a day to relax, I thought back. Letum and I now worked together to collect souls and stop those who would abuse them. Letum would sense a dying or dead person, a necromancer or some other issue or thing, and I would either fight or collect a soul.
I was fifteen on the day of my death. Now four years later, at the age of nineteen, I'm still alive. I remember waking up in a hospital with my family standing around me. My mother was crying, my father had a look of deep concern, and my brother had just entered the room after leaving work to see me. The only thing I was thinking at that time was how thankful I was for Letum. I didn't need to tell her that, because she already knew what I was thinking.
