Today was my final day here in Seattle. It was my official moving day, the day where my dad would blast 80's music and dance around doing disco moves. My last day of school, where I would be trasnferring to another school, we celebrated by eating cupcakes and listening to music all day until the bell rung and I had said my goodbyes.
My name is Kyoto Montalyo. As you could see, my heritage is mostly Japanese but half of my family is Irish since my mother is Irish, she has short blonde hair and blue eyes, her name is Jessica. She is a weird mom, she is usually so awkward whenever I talk about girl stuff and gives me advice. She is really pretty and smart and owns a few companies, She would usually tell me stories on why she named me Kyoto. She named me after Kyoto when I was born because she met my father there on a vacation trip with her 'girlfriends' or another way 'best friends'. My father is funny and also weird, he speaks mostly English but whenever he is mad like if he hits his foot on accident he speaks in Japanese. Enough about my background, This story is told by the older Kyoto, which is me. This is the story about adjusting to a new state and a new school and overcoming peer pressure and cliques.
"Honey, are you sure you are going the right way?" said my mother looking at the GPS as we drove on the highway. "Yes, I am sure. I swear I set up that GPS correctly..". We were in the car, on our way to California. Yup, california. The big golden state. My mother wanted to move there for her job and thought this would bring the family even more together. "TURN INTO THAT STREET!" my mother yelled in a loud tone, but smiling. We were finally off the highway and onto the mainstreets of LA. Boy, there was traffic and the heat was brutal.
