It's all over.
My life is done before it started.
My one regret?
I never made a friend.
The demonic screeching intensified the farther we ran. I clung to her side, tears streaking through the mud on my face.
Why am I not dead?
The others are. Why am I alive?
I don't know why I'm here, clinging to this radiant woman. I don't understand why she bothered soiling her dress to save me.
My blood has stained the fabric of her sleeve, and it flows down the side of her body.
